_R.D.V’s Statement

Romain di Vozzo is a political artist and a keynesian art entrepreneur involved in public art production, painting, video art design, digital art, installations and objects production. Romain di Vozzo studied Art History in Bordeaux (Fr), digital fabrication at the MIT Fab Academy in 2012 (US), and will join Sciences Po’s experimental Master in Arts and Politics in Paris for the year 2012-2013.

Focused on experimenting with political representations, Romain di Vozzo operates through the critical company DI VOZZO S.A.S, created in 2008 on the basis of the french tax system TEPA. DI VOZZO S.A.S was conceived so as to anticipate the future radical decreasing of governmental financial support for the arts in France. The next step for the company will be to switch from fiction to reality to become fully operational artistically, legally and fiscally. Shareholders of the company (individuals, companies, institutions,  ngos) will be members of an internal Art Stewardship Council (ASC) to provide funds and expertise to the company. RDV’s complementary activity as a street fundraising team manager for Greenpeace France provides the necessary ethical background for the sustainability of such a project.

Romain di Vozzo is active in the discursive field through a futurologic search on environmental sustainability and constructed landscapes related to economy, territorial politicies and ecosystem management. His discursive work mainly focuses on how political statements’s remanence affects the General Interest through time and it also focuses on the development of new artistic strategies to compete with the monopolistic position of the Imperialism on the production of political and ecological realities.

Considering art as a way to contribute to the structuring of civil society rather than a performative approach exclusively based on the processes of < art for art >, Romain di Vozzo bases his working method on the idea that the artist must infiltrate, occupy, and be operational in all fields of the society.

In this context, R.D.V is by turns a lobbyist, a consultant, a producer, an activist, a theorist and a promoter in the areas of activities that are related to its societal paradigm of a future sustainable/ecological society. To do so, the artist seeks to enter into collaboration (or, when necessary, to come into conflict) with every actor of the society : lobbies, administrations, universities, labs, societies, individuals, ngos, labels, etc.

DI VOZZO S.A.S worked/discussed with the Massachussets Institute of Technologies (MIT), with the World Wide Foundation (WWF), the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Projet COAL, the CNRS, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), between others.
